Kenwood Dnx9990hd Bluetooth Firmware Update

The Kenwood DNX9960 is an in-dash navigation system that features turn-by-turn directions, built-in Bluetooth, traffic alerts and Garmin maps. On occasion, updates are released for the Garmin software that adds extra features, or fixes known issues. Before updating the DNX9960 with Garmin's latest software, it is necessary to update the device's firmware through the Kenwood website. After doing so, the Garmin update can be downloaded and installed on the device.

My big concern is support they really never released any significant firmware updates for their DNN series the built-in apps.

Download the DNX9960 firmware update from the Kenwood.com. Open the downloaded file. Connect a USB storage device to the computer, and copy the update file to the USB device.

Step 2

Connect the USB storage device to the DNX9960. Press 'Menu' and choose 'Standby.' Press 'Setup,' 'Software' and 'Update.' Wait approximately three minutes for the update to finish. Remove the USB device, and reset the DNX9960.

Step 3

Go the Buy.garmin.com, and download the software update for the DNX9960.

Step 4

Insert an SD card into the computer, and create a directory on the card by right-clicking on the screen and selecting 'New Folder.' Name the new folder 'garmin.' Copy the update file to the 'garmin' folder, then remove the card from the computer.

Warning

Do not remove the SD card while the device is updating. This may damage the GPS.

I have a Kenwood KDC-BT743U Stereo in my car, which has a front panel USB port. I've been able to connect my iPhone 4S and play music from my iTunes catalog as well as stream music from Pandora, Soundcloud, Tune In Radio, Mixcloud et al, without any problems until yesterday...

Now that I've upgraded my phone to a iPhone 6 and when I connect it to the stereo via the USB port, it doesnt play at all. After about 2 minutes of trying to connect , I recieve a 'USB Error' . As I stated, I've had no problems with my iPhone 4S, which I've used with this same stereo deck for the last two years without any problem what so ever.

I'm looking for some guidance on next steps to take in order to fix the problem? Did Apple change the spec in some sort of way? Do I need to go to Kenwood for a firmware update (their website provides no information about iPhone 6 compatability with any of their stereo's which is very odd to me) ?
